Ian Jones

Dr. Ian Jones is a Lecturer in Environmental Sensing at the University of Stirling, within the Biological and Environmental Sciences department. He holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Warwick, an MSc in Non-linear Mathematics from the University of Bath, and a PhD in Physical Oceanography from the University of Liverpool. His research focuses on the interplay between lake physics and ecology, particularly the impacts of climate change (e.g., secular warming, wind stilling, rainfall patterns) and the effects of floating solar panels on lake ecosystems. He utilizes data from long-term monitoring, remote sensing, and automated in-situ buoys, alongside numerical models.
