Dr. Lauren Thompson serves as Associate Professor of History in the College of Arts and Sciences at McKendree University, where she has been a dedicated faculty member since 2017. Based in St. Louis, Missouri, she is renowned for her exceptional commitment to student success and innovative teaching methodologies.
Her research specializes in American Civil War social dynamics and African American urban experiences, highlighted by her recent book Friendly Enemies: Soldier Fraternization Throughout the American Civil War. Thompson is currently developing a second scholarly work examining race and recreation in St. Louis, significantly contributing to cultural and urban historical scholarship.
