Jacqueline Thompson

Jacqueline Thompson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication and Media at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She is a theatre artist and educator dedicated to fostering creativity and social justice through performance. Thompson holds an MFA in Acting from the University of Louisville and a graduate certificate in African American Theatre, alongside a BA in Speech Communications from Clark Atlanta University.

Thompson has performed with prominent regional theaters like The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis and directed community-focused projects such as Shakespeare Festival St. Louis’s 'Shakespeare in the Street.'

Her work bridges artistic innovation and societal engagement, exemplified by projects like The Telling Project-St. Louis, which explores veterans’ experiences through theater. Awards also include an Artist Fellowship from the Regional Arts Commission and participation in the Theatre Communications Group’s Rising Leaders of Color program.

Thompson’s advising and grants highlight her commitment to educational initiatives and community arts training, including the Regional Arts Commission’s Community Arts Training Program. She collaborates with diverse theater companies, contributing to productions that address themes like racial equity, historical memory, and personal identity.
