Lauren Tardo, M.D., is a Clinical Lead and Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology at the UT Southwestern Medical Center's Medical School. She joined the faculty in 2019 and specializes in multiple sclerosis (MS), MOG antibody disease, and other rare neuroimmunological disorders. Her roles include Co-Director of the Parkland Health Faculty MS Clinic and Director of the Neuroimmunology Resident Rotation at UT Southwestern.
Education: She earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi, completed a neurology residency, served as Chief Resident, and obtained a fellowship in MS and neuroimmunology at UT Southwestern. She is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Research and Clinical Focus: Dr. Tardo's research centers on clinical treatment trials and improving healthcare access for minority and MS patient populations. She actively participates in numerous clinical trials and advocates for MOG antibody disease patients through the AAN's Medical Advisory Board for the MOG Project.
Awards: In 2019, she received the Stephen Damm Memorial Award from the UT Southwestern Neurology Department for outstanding patient care and compassion.
Advising and Administrative Roles: She oversees resident training in neuroimmunology and contributes to committees such as the Neurology Residency Clinical Competency Committee and the Neurology Academic Leadership Committee. Her professional service includes advocacy work through the MOG Project and institutional leadership roles.
