Lauren J Jonkman

Dr. Lauren J Jonkman is an Assistant Professor at the University of Namibia School of Pharmacy, where she teaches clinical pharmacy, mentors students, and leads research. She co-directs the Global Health Area of Concentration at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and coordinates global health experiences for student pharmacists. Her expertise includes health equity, social determinants of health, and primary care in resource-limited settings.

Education: PharmD (University of Pittsburgh, 2006), MPH (University of Pittsburgh, 2012), Pharmacy Residency (UPMC St. Margaret, 2008). She served as a Fulbright Scholar (2018) and has received multiple awards, including the Chancellor's Distinguished Public Service Award (2016) and the Renee T. Holder Global Health Award (2020).

Her research focuses on equitable healthcare access, global health systems, and ethical research practices. She has published extensively on non-communicable disease management in Namibia, diabetes care in Central America, and ethical frameworks for global health research. Collaborations include the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the International Pharmaceutical Federation.
