Lauren England

Dr Lauren England is a Lecturer in Creative Economies at King’s College London, affiliated with the Department of Culture, Media & Creative Industries within the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. Her research focuses on the sustainable development of creative economies in international contexts, particularly craft, design, and fashion industries in Africa and the Global South. Key themes include circular fashion economies, craft knowledge transfer, and small arts organizations' strategies. Her work has been funded by AHRC, British Academy, and the Urban Studies Foundation.

Her research outputs include peer-reviewed articles, policy reports, and creative documentaries like Creative Women in Lagos. Notable projects include the African Hub for Sustainable Creative Economies and studies on pandemic impacts on creative workers. She teaches on BA Culture, Media & Creative Industries and MA Arts & Cultural Management courses.

Recent publications analyze fashion industry sustainability in Kenya, Lagos/Nairobi creative economies, and South Tyrol’s craft ecosystems. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges academic research with policy engagement, emphasizing gender equity and cultural policy reform.
