Dr. Laura Sharp is a Senior Lecturer in Mental Health & Wellbeing at the University of Glasgow's School of Health and Wellbeing. Her work focuses on innovative teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and addressing equity in education. She co-leads the Global Mental Health Master’s program and pioneered the first international MOOC on suicide prevention, engaging over 10,000 learners globally. Her research spans HIV stigma, suicide prevention, EDI, and decolonizing curricula.
Key contributions include developing tools like Whose W.O.R.D.D. Counts? to assess curricular diversity and advancing employability skills through virtual learning environments. She has secured grants for projects like 'Decolonising the Principles of Public Health Curriculum' and 'Embedding Student-Led Action for Sustainable Development Goals.'
Her research interests include: HIV-related stigma, suicide prevention strategies, EDI in education, and public health policy. Awards include the 2021 University of Glasgow Team Teaching Excellence Award and the 2019 IASP Conference Poster Award.
