Dr. Ambrose Melson (also known as Jack Melson) is a Senior Lecturer in Mental Health at the University of Glasgow's Institute of Health and Wellbeing. He researches the prevention and management of self-harm, suicidal behavior, and emotional distress, with additional expertise in alcohol-related behavior change interventions.
His primary research domains include:
- Aetiology of suicidal behavior
- Development of brief interventions for distress
- Alcohol misuse prevention strategies
- Implementation science in mental healthcare
Recent publications focus on evaluating national Distress Brief Intervention programs and developing anti-stigma initiatives through innovative methods like Human Library events. His work emphasizes practical applications for crisis support systems and reducing barriers to mental healthcare.
Dr. Melson has received multiple awards including:
