Ann M. Mitchell is a Professor in the Health & Community Systems department at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing. She holds certifications as an Advanced Practice Holistic Nurse (AHN-BC) and a Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC), and is inducted into the International Academy of Nursing Educators (IAAN) and the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN).
- Research focuses on mental health outcomes, bereavement after suicide, complicated grief, and substance use/misuse interventions
- Project Director for two HRSA-funded grants on alcohol/drug misuse training for healthcare professionals
- Developing a crisis intervention program and the COMPANION mobile app for suicide survivors
Teaching: Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing and Cross-Cultural Healthcare courses. Former Fulbright Scholar at Sultan Qaboos University (Oman).
Service: Active in community grief organizations, President of Pittsburgh Chapter of American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and North American Consortium for Nursing & Allied Health (NACNAH) President.
