Dr Dimitar Karadzhov is a Lecturer in the School of Health & Wellbeing at the University of Glasgow’s College of Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences. He teaches in the Global Mental Health MSc Programme, specializing in online and on-campus education. His roles include coordinating courses such as 'Improving Access to Mental Health Care in the Global Context' and 'Themes in Global Mental Health.' Dr Karadzhov leads the LTDF-funded EEVE project, enhancing employability skills through virtual learning environments. He is also a Lead Educator for the MOOC 'Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the Global Context' and contributes to the 'Impact of Trauma on Mental Health' microcredential.
Dr Karadzhov holds a PhD in Public Health from the University of Strathclyde (2020), with secondments at New York University’s Silver School of Social Work. He earned a Master of Science in Global Mental Health (Distinction) and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Distinction), both from the University of Glasgow.
His research focuses on mental health recovery, homelessness, child welfare, and qualitative methodologies. Notable contributions include studies on temporary accommodation’s impact on recovery, global mental health competencies, and pandemic-era child well-being policies. He has presented at conferences such as the European Congress of Qualitative Inquiry and the International Association for Suicide Prevention.
Dr Karadzhov has received accolades including the 2021 University of Glasgow Teaching Excellence Award and the 2019 International Association for Suicide Prevention Best Poster Prize. His work bridges academic innovation with global health equity, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and student-centered learning.
