Laura Pedraza-Fariña

Laura Pedraza-Fariña is a Professor of Law at UCLA School of Law, specializing in patent law, international intellectual property law, and innovation theory. Her research bridges two primary domains: innovation law and policy, and the dynamics of international organizations (IOs) addressing global health and intellectual property. She employs interdisciplinary methods, including network science, science and technology studies (STS), and the history of science, to explore how social norms interact with IP regimes to shape knowledge creation. Her IO-focused work analyzes inter-institutional competition and cooperation, particularly within the World Trade Organization, World Health Organization, and World Intellectual Property Organization.
