Laura Marciano Fonseca

Laura Marciano Fonseca is a Full-Time Lecturer in the Program in Writing & Rhetoric at Stony Brook University. Based in Humanities 3013, she can be reached at laura.marciano@stonybrook.edu. Her work focuses on challenging societally imposed binaries through creative writing and digital humanities, emphasizing queer futurity and gender theory.

She authored the poetry collection Mall Brat (2016) and recently published peer-reviewed research on evolving poetry collections in digital communities.

Laura founded gemstone readings, a media collective supporting LGBTQ+ creators. Her work appears in Poetry Foundation, NPR, Tribeca/Sundance Film Festivals, and MoMA PS1. She collaborates with students to explore writing beyond societal constraints and lives in Brooklyn with her husband Carmelo.
