Lynn Kim is an Assistant Professor at the University of Missouri specializing in Digital Storytelling, where she explores the social and political dimensions of the human body through interdisciplinary artistic practice.
Her educational background includes:
- MFA from The Ohio State University
- BFA from Rhode Island School of Design
Kim's research investigates societal perceptions of human and non-human bodies through the lens of gender, race, health, and sexuality, drawing connections between biology, poetry, anthropology, and history. Her creative methodology produces immersive film experiences—ranging from single-channel works to multi-channel installations—that incorporate writing, performance, and dance to challenge conventional bodily narratives. Notable projects include a film examining queerness in spotted hyenas and an essay on the color yellow's relationship to racial identity.
Her works have exhibited internationally at CURRENTS New Media, Ottawa International Animation Festival, Baryshnikov Arts Center, Korean Cultural Center of NY, The Margulies Collection, Rooftop Films, DC Independent Film Festival, and Melbourne International Animation Festival.
