Laura London Waringer is an Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre at Tulane University's Newcomb Department of Music, serving as coordinator of the BFA in Music's Musical Theatre concentration since 2024. She previously developed the Musical Theatre Certificate program at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Her academic credentials include a PhD from Florida State University (Theatre and Performance Research), an MFA from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (Music Theatre), and a BFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts (Musical Theatre).
Her research focuses on race and gender representation in musical theatre, educational methodologies, and adapting historical events into theatrical works. She is expanding her doctoral research into a book titled Triple Threat: A Study of American Musical Theatre Training. Waringer is also an accomplished performer, director, and founder of Wanderlust: Theatre on Location, producing immersive site-specific theatre projects like Musicals on the Move and The Frenchtown Project.
Her creative work emphasizes community engagement through location-based performances, such as adaptations of A Christmas Carol and Into the Woods. She is a member of Actors Equity Association, British Actors Equity, and SAG-AFTRA.
