Laura Gair

Laura Gair is a Senior Lecturer in Forensic Psychology at Teesside University’s School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Law. She joined the university in 2022 after over 12 years as a practitioner in Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS). Her work focuses on risk assessment, offender rehabilitation, and interventions for high-risk populations, including those involved in intimate partner violence (IPV), arson, and sexual offending.

• BSc (Hons) in Psychology at Northumbria University (2009)
• MSc in Investigative and Forensic Psychology at the University of Liverpool (2012)

Her research explores community reintegration of offenders, public health impacts, and marginalized populations. She leads the MSc Forensic Psychology program and teaches on BSc modules, while supervising undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations.

Laura’s recent projects include collaborations with HMP Deerbolt and Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council. Her 2025 systematic review on sexual offender reintegration and 2024 commissioned report on Outreach Nurse roles highlight her expertise in interdisciplinary research and stakeholder engagement.

She is an Associate Forensic Psychologist at Forensic Psychology Consultants Ltd and a trained Negotiator Advisor (NA). Her work integrates forensic psychology with healthcare and criminal justice systems.
