Laura-Eve Moss is a Research Associate Professor and Associate Editor for The Papers of Andrew Jackson project at the University of Tennessee's Department of History. She specializes in 19th-century American political and constitutional history, with emphasis on citizenship evolution and democratic participation. Her editorial leadership includes managing The Encyclopedia of New York State (2005) and co-editing multiple volumes of Andrew Jackson's papers.
Her research examines historical constructions of civic identity through legal frameworks and social narratives, particularly in New York's constitutional conventions. Publications analyze gender dynamics in legal contexts and document critical presidential archives.
Moss holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Connecticut (1999), an M.A. and C.A.S. in History/Public History from the University at Albany (1991-1992), and a B.A. from Union College (1990). She maintains affiliate roles with the Howard Thurman Papers Project and has taught at Siena College and the University of Connecticut.
