Laura Ettinger is a Research Professor in the Arts, Culture and Technology Department at Clarkson University, Potsdam, New York. With a Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Rochester and an A.B. from Vassar College, she specializes in oral history and the history of women, gender, and STEM professions. Her work bridges historical analysis with public engagement through documentaries and educational materials.

Ettinger's research focuses on the intersection of gender and professionalization in engineering, science, and medicine. She examines how women pioneers navigated institutional barriers, drawing on oral histories to amplify marginalized voices. Her current NSF-funded project explores the lives of women engineers from the 1970s cohort.
Her scholarly output includes a book on nurse-midwifery and numerous articles analyzing gender dynamics in professional fields. She co-authored studies on women engineers' experiences and contributed to digital history projects.
