Nicole Conroy, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) program at the University of Vermont's College of Education and Social Services. Her work integrates strengths-based approaches to promote positive development and healthy relationships through research and teaching.
- Education: Ph.D. and M.S. in Child and Family Studies from Syracuse University; B.S. in Psychology and History from Clarkson University
Her research focuses on the intersections of gender, power, control, and violence, particularly through:
- Validation of Johnson’s control-based typology of intimate partner violence
- Gender roles in young adult dating violence
- University responses to sexual assault
- Inclusive research methodologies for adults with disabilities
Recent publications highlight her expertise in gender-based violence typologies (2024), transgender survivor experiences (2021), and disability inclusion in research (2022). She frequently collaborates with students and community partners.
