Laura Calderan-Dep is an Assistant Professor at the University of Verona, affiliated with the Department of Neurosciences, Biomedicine and Movement Sciences under the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery. She holds a PhD in experimental magnetic resonance imaging from the University of Verona and previously worked as a Senior Scientist at GlaxoSmithKline. Her research focuses on oncological and neuroscience models, nanotechnology applications in biomedicine, and multimodal imaging techniques. She teaches anatomy across multiple programs, including Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Obstetrics.
Research interests include in vivo oncological models, biocompatibility assessment of compounds, and dynamic organ culture systems. Key projects include the 'Verona Nanomedicine Initiative' (2011) and studies on nanoparticle interactions with biological barriers (2018). She leads institutional roles in ethics (OPBA committee) and academic governance, serving on PhD councils, teaching boards, and curriculum committees. Her labs include imaging and neurobiology facilities.
She advises on biomedical ethics and participates in professional training programs for anatomical and clinical disciplines. Her work emphasizes translational research in nanomedicine and medical imaging, with a focus on cancer and neurological applications.
