Lars Mehlum is a Professor at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo, and founding director of the National Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention. He has served as past president of the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP), International Academy of Suicide Research (IASR), and the European Society for the Study of Personality Disorders (ESSPD). His research focuses on suicidal behavior, self-harm, personality disorders, and the efficacy of interventions like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), with over 300 publications and 9 books.
