Lars O. Hedin is the George M. Moffett Professor of Biology and Chair of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Princeton University, jointly appointed at the High Meadows Environmental Institute. His research centers on ecosystem analysis, biogeochemical cycles, and global environmental change.
Research focuses on three areas: 1) Nutrient cycling in temperate/tropical forests, 2) Emergence of ecosystem properties through evolutionary processes, and 3) Biophysical controls on greenhouse gas exchange. Field studies span remote forests in Chile, Argentina, Hawaii, Amazonia, Panama, and Africa.
Recent publications examine plant-microbe interactions, carbon-nutrient feedbacks, and biome-scale responses to environmental change.
