Larry J. Sabato is the University Professor of Politics at the University of Virginia and the founder and director of the UVA Center for Politics. He holds a Ph.D. in Politics from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar and has held visiting appointments at Oxford and Cambridge. His work bridges academia and public engagement through election forecasting, media production, and digital education.
His research focuses on American political institutions, electoral dynamics, and presidential history. He is particularly known for his expertise on the U.S. Senate and the legacy of President John F. Kennedy. His interdisciplinary interests include political forecasting, media influence, and civic education.
The Crystal Ball, which he directs, has demonstrated exceptional accuracy in predicting U.S. elections, earning recognition from the Pew Research Center and The Daily Beast.
