Dr. Larry Glassford is a Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Windsor. His research focuses on Ontario education history, citizenship education evolution, and Canadian political leaders. He holds a Ph.D. in History from York University (1985), along with degrees from Carleton University and the University of Western Ontario.
Research interests include analyzing curriculum impacts on national identity, political history of education policy, and biographies of Canadian political figures. His work bridges historical methodologies with contemporary educational challenges.
Publications span political biography, curriculum history, and educational policy analysis. Notable works include Reaction and Reform: The Politics of the Conservative Party Under R.B. Bennett (1992) and articles on teacher testing controversies and outdoor education centers. He supervises doctoral research in education history and has mentored three Ph.D. students.
Recent supervision includes Ana Savic's study on Windsor Teachers College transformation, James Boreland's work on Ontario outdoor education centers, and Kael Sharman's analysis of gender dynamics in technical school curricula.
