Larissa Engelmann is a Research Fellow at the ESRC Vulnerability and Policing Research Centre within the School of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Leeds. Her work focuses on preventing and reducing vulnerabilities through policing, with current projects on online child sexual victimisation, service provision for vulnerable populations in Bradford, and domestic abuse responses considering perpetrator vulnerabilities.
Her educational background includes:

- MSc in Applied Criminology and Forensic Psychology
- BA (Hons) in Criminology
Engelmann's research spans Policing, Police Education, Public Health Approaches to Policing, Policing Vulnerable Groups, Police partnership working, Penal policy, and Restorative Justice. She utilizes mixed-methods approaches and community co-production to develop sustainable interventions for vulnerable populations, exemplified by her video co-designed with children aged 6-16 on online safety.
She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in policing, sociology, and research methods while supervising final year projects. Her current ESRC-funded projects involve deep collaboration with local practitioners, communities, and international networks to address systemic vulnerabilities.
Engelmann co-chairs the European Society of Criminology Policing Working Group and serves on the board of the Global Law Enforcement and Public Health Association (GLEPHA), driving knowledge exchange across 30+ countries to integrate public health perspectives into policing practices.
