Lana Walker is a Sessional Faculty member and Adjunct Professor at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) Faculty of Law. She is a seasoned trial lawyer with over 15 years of criminal defense experience across Ontario, Nunavut, and British Columbia. Originally from Kamloops, Lana graduated from Dalhousie University Law School in 2006 and practiced in Toronto before establishing her own firm. She later served as lead counsel at Nunavut Legal Aid and directed the Nunavut Law Program’s clinical initiatives. From 2022–24, she acted as TRU Law’s Assistant Dean, focusing on student wellness and professional development.
Her legal career emphasizes access to justice, particularly for marginalized communities. She has defended complex criminal cases, including sexual assault and homicide, and has extensive experience in Charter litigation. In 2024–25, she co-teaches Sexual Offences: Prosecution and Defence and coaches the MacIntyre trial advocacy moot. Lana currently practices with the Nicola Law Group, specializing in criminal defense.
Her expertise spans clinical legal education, Indigenous justice systems (from her Nunavut work), and trial advocacy. Despite no formal awards listed, her contributions to legal education and representation in underserved regions highlight her commitment to equitable justice systems.
