Dr. Lan Nguyen is an Associate Professor (Research) in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Monash University, affiliated with the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute. He leads the Computational Network Modelling Lab, focusing on systems biology approaches to address cancer and drug resistance challenges. His research employs predictive mathematical models to analyze cell signaling networks, aiming to identify therapeutic targets and strategies.
Nguyen holds a PhD in Computational Systems Biology from Lincoln University (2010) and completed postdoctoral training at Systems Biology Ireland. He joined Monash in 2015 as a Senior Research Fellow. His expertise spans interdisciplinary research integrating experimental biology with computational methods.
Key projects include investigating molecular switches in cancer signaling, developing precision oncology programs for triple-negative breast cancer, and modeling network dynamics using tools like pyDYVIPAC. He has supervised numerous PhD and honors students, contributing to over 66 research outputs since 2007.
Nguyen has received a 2016 award and actively collaborates internationally. His lab’s work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in advancing health innovations (Goal 3). Current projects explore synthetic lethality, drug combination therapies, and network-based biomarker identification.
