Dr Lalehvash Moghaddam is a Senior Research Fellow and Senior Lecturer at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), based in the School of Chemistry & Physics and QUT Centre for Agriculture and the Bioeconomy. With a PhD in analytical chemistry (2008), her expertise spans vibrational spectroscopy, polymer processing, and sustainable biomass conversion. She has led projects on biofuel production, biomass liquefaction, and valorization of agricultural by-products since 2010. Dr Moghaddam currently supervises three PhD and one MSc students as principal advisor and five PhD students as associate supervisor. Her research focuses on advancing bio-based materials, waste-to-energy solutions, and industry collaborations to enhance agricultural sustainability.
Education: PhD in Analytical Chemistry (QUT, 2008).
Key Roles:
- Principal Investigator for projects like “Wastes to Profits” (2018–present) and “Biorefineries for Profit”.
- Experience with sugar cane bagasse, microalgae, and cotton gin trash valorization.
- Developed bio-based polyurethanes, nanocellulose composites, and lignin-derived materials.
Research Highlights:
- Co-liquefaction of biomass and plastic waste for biofuel production.
- Hydrothermal liquefaction optimization for stable bio-oils.
- Bio-based films with UV-blocking and antimicrobial properties.
Grants & Projects: Australian Competitive Grants including Rural R&D for Profit Program and Australia-India Strategic Research Fund projects. Current focus on cotton gin trash valorization and functional carbon composites.
