Lale Levin Basut is an Associate Professor at the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Yeditepe University. She holds a PhD in Philosophy from Yeditepe University and has been actively involved in both teaching and research since 2012. Her academic career includes roles such as Department Vice-Chair and Deputy Dean. She specializes in ancient philosophy, epistemology, and ethics, with a focus on Plato, Aristotle, and Kant.
Education: She earned her B.A. in Philosophy (English Program) from Yeditepe University (2004-2007) and completed a joint PhD in Philosophy (2007-2012). Her doctoral thesis was titled Being and Knowledge: Plato and Aristotle.
Research Interests: Dr. Basut's work spans ancient Greek philosophy, epistemological questions in Aristotle, Kantian ethics, and aesthetic theories. She explores topics such as the Meno paradox, justice in Plato's Republic, and the nature of happiness in Aristotelian ethics.
Publications: Her notable works include translations of philosophical texts, edited volumes on methodological approaches in philosophy, and articles published in journals like Beytülhikme and Filozofski Vestnik. Recent research focuses on the interplay between ancient and modern philosophical concepts.
Awards: She received the DAAD scholarship for intensive language courses and was a Fulbright Program candidate for PhD preparation. Her contributions to philosophy education and research have been recognized by TÜBA.
Grants & Supervision: She led the project Foundations of Arithmetic and Geometry in Philosophy (2018-2019) and has supervised multiple MA theses on topics ranging from Kantian consciousness to feminist critiques of Schopenhauer.
Labs/Teams: She actively participates in philosophy seminars and workshops, including the Women in the History of Philosophy series at Paderborn University and the Philosophy of Aristotle's Biology workshop.
