Lakshman Mahadevan

Lakshman Mahadevan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Systems, Analytics & Supply Chain at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), part of the Lutgert College of Business. He holds a PhD in Management Information Systems from the University of Memphis, alongside an MBA, M.S. in Electrical Engineering, and a BTech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from the University of Calicut.

His research focuses on e-commerce privacy, information communication issues, and technology strategy. Notable contributions include work on public Wi-Fi security, consumer trust in digital platforms, and the integration of agile methodologies in traditional system development. Mahadevan has been recognized with the Best Paper Award at the Southern Association for Information Systems (SAIS) conference.

Mahadevan teaches courses in Business Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, Data Visualization, and Digital Transformation. He previously taught MIS seminars for PhD students at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM). Before academia, he spent 15 years at FedEx’s Memphis headquarters, specializing in enterprise architecture design for e-commerce and pricing systems.

His publications span journals like the Journal of Computer Information Systems (JCIS) and Communications of the Association for Information Systems (CAIS), with topics ranging from IoT device adoption to e-government service continuance. His research bridges theoretical models with practical applications in cybersecurity, digital transformation, and consumer behavior.
