Dr Lachlan Dalli is a Research Fellow at Monash University's Victorian Heart Institute (VHI), affiliated with the Big Data, Epidemiology and Prevention Division. He holds a PhD in Epidemiology (2022) and a Biomedical Science Honours (2019) from Monash University. His research focuses on improving stroke care through Big Data analytics, pharmacoepidemiology, and real-world evidence. He leads projects on medication adherence (e.g., TEN-SPIDERS reporting tool), stroke prevention in children linked to infections, and cardiovascular disease management inequities.
Education:
- PhD in Epidemiology, Monash University (2019–2022)
- Honours in Biomedical Science, Monash University (2018)
- Bachelor of Biomedical Science, Monash University (2015–2017)
Research Interests: His work spans pharmacoepidemiology of stroke medications, Big Data-driven quality improvement, and health equity in cardiovascular care. He develops novel statistical methods for assessing hospital care quality and collaborates internationally on stroke registries and policy evaluation.
Articles Trends: Recent work emphasizes medication adherence disparities, infection-stroke links in paediatrics, and geospatial inequities in chronic disease management. He bridges clinical practice and policy through large-scale data linkage studies.
Awards:
- National Heart Foundation Postdoctoral Fellowship (2024–2025)
- Monash 3MT Competition Winner (2020, 2021)
- EQUATOR Network-endorsed TEN-SPIDERS reporting tool (2022)
Grants & Advising: Leads 4 active grants including a $1M Jack Brockhoff Foundation project. Supervises PhD candidates in pharmacoepidemiology and stroke prevention digital interventions. Authored >40 peer-reviewed articles in Neurology, Hypertension, and Stroke.
Labs/Teams: Coordinates the National Stroke Data Linkage Interest Group, INSPIRE-STROKE Network, and Victorian Cardiovascular Research Network (CVRN). Serves on Hypertension Australia's Early Career Committee and the Australian Stroke Clinical Registry (AuSCR).
