Christopher Reid is a Research Professor at the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Monash University, and also holds an appointment at the School of Population Health, Curtin University. He is the Director of the Monash and Curtin Centres of Cardiovascular Research and Education (CCRE) and a John Curtin Distinguished Professor, re-appointed in 2022. He holds a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Principal Research Fellowship focused on cardiovascular disease prevention.
His research expertise lies in cardiovascular epidemiology, with a strong focus on clinical outcome registries, randomized controlled trials, and epidemiological cohort studies. He has been Study Director of the ANBP2 study and is currently a Chief Investigator in major trials including ASPREE, STAREE, and the Australian arms of HOPE-3, REACH, and CLARIFY registries. He is also a Principal Investigator for the Victorian Cardiac Procedures Registry, the Melbourne Interventional Group (MIG) registry, and the ANZSCTS National Cardiac Surgical Registry.
His recent publications highlight ongoing work in cardiovascular risk prediction in older adults, hypertension management, metabolic syndrome outcomes post-PCI, and large-scale trial design. These works reflect a consistent focus on improving cardiovascular outcomes through evidence-based preventive strategies and real-world data analysis.

As a Chief Investigator, he has secured over $178 million in research funding and has maintained continuous NHMRC funding since 2001. He actively supervises PhD students and collaborates with national and international institutions, including serving as a WHO consultant for cardiovascular disease prevention in Mongolia, Vietnam, and the West Pacific region. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being.
He leads and contributes to multiple active research projects, including optimizing chest pain pathways in rural communities, developing clinical decision support tools for medication adherence, and stroke prevention in older Australians.
