Professor John McNeil is a leading academic at Monash University, serving as former Head of the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine (SPHPM) and the Department of Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine (DEPM) from 1986 to 2019. He holds a Medical Degree from the University of Adelaide (1971) and a PhD in Clinical Pharmacology from Melbourne University. His research focuses on epidemiology, clinical trials, and public health, with notable contributions to the ANBP2 hypertension trial and the ASPREE aspirin study. He has received the AM (2009) for services to public health. Currently, he leads 170 doctoral students and oversees 460 postgraduate students in the SPHPM.
