He leads a research program focused on nuclear receptor NR2E3 in liver diseases/cancer and aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) in pancreatic diseases. Dr. Kim holds a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University and completed postdoctoral training at the University of San Diego and MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Education:
- M.S., Rutgers University (1996–1998)
- Ph.D., Texas A&M University (1998–2004)
- Postdoctoral Fellowships: University of San Diego (2004–2006), MD Anderson Cancer Center (2006–2008)
Research Interests:
- NR2E3’s role in liver cancer epigenetic regulation and sex-dependent disease outcomes
- AHR-mediated environmental toxin signaling in pancreatic cancer progression
- Development of NR2E3 as a prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target
Grants & Funding:
- UAMS College of Medicine Startup Funds (2022–present)
- NIEHS P30 ES006096 Center Award (2019–2020)
- University of Cincinnati Faculty Research Grant (2019–2020)
Laboratory: Located in Cancer Institute CI3329, Room 308. Current projects emphasize translating NR2E3/AHR research into precision medicine strategies for liver and pancreatic cancers.
