Dr. Kylie Pappalardo is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Law at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), a Chief Investigator at the Digital Media Research Centre (DMRC), and an ARC DECRA Fellow. Her research focuses on how automation, digital distribution, and intellectual property laws impact cultural diversity and access to screen content. She holds degrees in Law and Creative Writing from QUT, a Master of Law from Georgetown University, and a PhD from Australian Catholic University.

Research Interests
Dr. Pappalardo’s work examines the intersection of law, technology, and culture. She investigates how copyright law shapes access to screen industries, prioritizes marginalized voices, and balances economic and cultural goals. Her recent DECRA project explores the high costs of screen production and their impact on cultural diversity in Australia. She also studies intermediary liability, open access in academia, and Indigenous cultural protection.

Recent completions include studies on Myanmar’s copyright, gender equality in land inheritance, and social media’s impact on legal proceedings.
