Kyle Schwartz is a Research Fellow at the School for Business and Society, University of York. His research focuses on inclusion, adaptation, and wellbeing in contexts of mobility, conflict, and disaster, with a strong emphasis on marginalized communities. His work spans global health, climate justice, and humanitarian policy, including studies of Tibetan refugee camps, Roma communities in the UK, and disaster response in India, Nepal, and Mongolia.
Education: BA Anthropology (University of Georgia), MPH Disaster Management (University of Georgia), PhD Applied Social Sciences (Edinburgh Napier University).
Research interests include:
- Marginalization and social vulnerability
- Climate change adaptation
- Forced displacement and refugee studies
- Ethnography and urban sociology
Awards include Fellowships from the Higher Education Academy and Royal Geographical Society.
He has collaborated extensively with disaster management organizations, emergency medical services, and NGOs. His current projects co-design mental health services with UK Roma and Traveller communities. Methodological expertise includes ethnographic, participatory, and mixed-methods approaches.
