Kyle Petersen

Dr. Kyle Petersen is an Associate Professor and Sanford Chair in Tropical Medicine at Uniformed Services University. His clinical research focuses on leptospirosis, dengue, and emerging infectious diseases affecting military personnel and travelers.

Research interests include tropical disease prevention, military medicine, travel-related infections, and gamification in medical education. Current projects investigate leptospirosis in jungle warfare trainees and strongyloidiasis risks post-deployment. His work integrates field epidemiology with clinical practice guidelines for military and humanitarian settings.

Publications demonstrate expertise in dengue epidemiology among Peace Corps volunteers, Mayaro virus surveillance, and Acinetobacter infections in combat casualties. Recent work examines virtual patient simulations versus traditional lectures in military medical education.
