David Tribble

David Tribble is a faculty member at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), affiliated with the School of Medicine and the Department of Preventive Medicine and Biostatistics. He serves as the Vice Chair of Research for the department and as the Science Director of the Infectious Disease Clinical Research Program (IDCRP), a collaborative initiative between the Department of Defense and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Dr. Tribble’s research focuses on infectious diseases and travel medicine, with emphasis on trauma-related infections, skin and soft-tissue infections (SSTI), Staphylococcus aureus prevention, and vaccine development for bacterial diarrheal diseases like Campylobacter jejuni and Shigella. His work includes clinical trials, epidemiological studies, and experimental infection models in volunteers.

His recent publications highlight a 2018 epidemiological analysis of trauma-related infections, a 2017 trial on ambulatory therapy for travelers’ diarrhea, and a 2014 intervention study on MRSA prevention in military trainees. These span clinical trials, wound management, vaccine evaluation, and epidemiological trends in military and global health contexts.
