Kyle Jay is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology at the W.M. Keck Science Center, affiliated with Claremont Colleges. His research focuses on molecular mechanisms of telomere maintenance, DNA damage response, and RNA editing in neuronal systems.
Educational Background:
- Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, Brown University
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, UCSF
Jay's research explores how telomerase activity affects aging and genomic stability, as well as RNA editing dynamics in Drosophila. His recent work includes studies on DNA replication stress, telomere biology, and RNA-editing substrates in neural tissue.
Notable publication trends include investigations into:
- Yeast aging models (2015-2016)
- RNA editing variability (2011)
- dNTP pool regulation
- ADAR enzyme function
- Genomic instability pathways
