Dr. Kwaku Nti is an Associate Professor of History at Georgia Southern University’s Armstrong Campus, affiliated with the College of Arts and Humanities. He has been with the institution since 2011 and specializes in African Diaspora studies, Atlantic World history, and African colonial and contemporary history. His research examines themes such as cultural adaptation, globalization, and political systems in Ghana and the broader African context.
Dr. Nti holds a Ph.D. from Michigan State University (2011), alongside advanced degrees from the University of Ghana, Central Michigan University, and others. His teaching portfolio includes courses like HIST 3020 The African Diaspora and HIST 3150 History of Africa to 1800.
His research focuses on coastal Ghana’s social and economic dynamics, including maritime cultures and diaspora experiences. Recent work includes a 2023 monograph on Cape Coast’s maritime history and analyses of Ghana’s democratic challenges. He has received grants for projects like Of Wills and the Willingness to Write Wills: Bequeathing of Property among the Akan of Ghana.
Professional contributions include roles as a Fulbright Program facilitator, referee for academic bibliographies, and reviewer for H-Net. His publications span book chapters on gender, development, and diaspora economics, reflecting interdisciplinary engagement with African history’s socio-political dimensions.
