Michael R. Hall is a Professor of History at Georgia Southern University, affiliated with the Department of History within the College of Arts and Humanities. He holds a B.A. in History from Gettysburg College (1983), an M.A. in International Studies from Ohio University (1989), and a Ph.D. in History from Ohio University (1996). His research focuses on Latin America, U.S. Foreign Relations, and the Cold War, with current work emphasizing U.S.-Latin American diplomatic interactions. His publications explore topics such as Cuban-African alliances, the Dominican Republic under Trujillo, Haitian history, and Mexican ethnic conflicts.
Dr. Hall has contributed to interdisciplinary studies through works like Historical Dictionary of Haiti and analyses of population transfers in the Dominican Republic. He serves on the Executive Council of the Association of Global South Studies and as Book Review Editor for the Journal of Global South Studies. His teaching spans colonial and modern Latin American history, as well as U.S. foreign relations from early to contemporary periods.
