Kuan Zhang

Kuan (Kevin) Zhang is an Assistant Professor of Radiology and a Diagnostic Medical Physicist in the Medical Physics division at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He previously served as an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Mayo Clinic before joining UT Southwestern in 2024. His professional roles include advanced training at the Mayo AI Lab as a Research Associate and completion of the CAMPEP Accredited Certificate Program.

Dr. Zhang holds a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He earned a dual European Erasmus MSc in computational modeling from Swansea University (United Kingdom) and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain), followed by a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics at the latter institution.

His research emphasizes mathematical modeling, AI, and radiological imaging analysis. He focuses on developing novel machine learning algorithms and data-driven platforms to improve clinical imaging tasks. His work has yielded over 20 peer-reviewed publications and he currently serves as Associate Editor of Radiology: Advances.

Dr. Zhang is affiliated with professional organizations such as the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), American College of Radiology (ACR), and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM). His prior experience includes a diagnostic medical physics residency at the Mayo Clinic and training within the Mayo AI Lab.
