Liqiang Ren

Liqiang Ren, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Radiology and serves as a Diagnostic Medical Physicist in the Medical Physics Division at UT Southwestern Medical Center. His expertise focuses on advanced imaging technologies, particularly photon-counting detector CT and spectral imaging, with an emphasis on radiation dose reduction and diagnostic accuracy. He holds certifications from the American Board of Radiology and is actively involved in professional societies such as the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM).

Dr. Ren’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in optoelectronics science and technology from Nankai University and Tianjin University, a master’s in optical engineering from Tianjin University, and a doctorate in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He completed a Medical Physics Residency Program at the Mayo Clinic and an accredited CAMPEP program, further specializing in diagnostic imaging.

His research spans photon-counting CT technology optimization, phantom-based validation of imaging techniques, and multi-contrast imaging applications. Notable interests include spectral performance analyses, low-dose protocols, and artifact reduction in CT imaging.
