Kristine Elfrida Dalaker is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Wollongong (2023–present). Previously, she served as a PhD Research Fellow at the Norwegian Centre for the Law of the Sea (NCLOS), University of Tromsø (2017–2022), and held visiting roles at the University of Virginia School of Law (2016–2017) and National University of Singapore’s Centre for International Law (2016–2017). Her research focuses on ocean law and governance, particularly BBNJ treaty frameworks, Arctic shipping governance, and historical development of maritime law. She coordinates UOW’s International Marine Environmental Law postgraduate course and contributes to peer reviews for journals like Ocean Yearbook Online and Ocean Development and International Law.
Her research interests emphasize balancing state rights with environmental protection in Arctic regions, institutional design for high seas governance, and polycentric approaches to marine resource management. Current projects include a Commonwealth Secretariat-funded initiative to support BBNJ treaty ratification (2024–2025). She actively participates in ethics committees and legal policy development, advocating for immediate Arctic biodiversity protection measures beyond waiting for global treaties.
