Dr. Kristina Rusimova is a Lecturer in the Department of Physics at the University of Bath, where she also serves as Prize Fellow at the Centre for Photonics and Photonic Materials and Head of the NanoBioPhotonics group. She holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Bath (2016) and an MSc in Physics with Nanotechnology from the University of Birmingham (2012).
Her research explores light-matter interactions, focusing on:
- Behavior of hot electrons generated by light or scanning tunneling microscopy
- Nanoscale energy dissipation mechanisms
- Development of specialty hollow-core optical fibers
- Optical nonlinearity in two-dimensional materials
Her recent publications demonstrate strong focus on quantum applications of optical fibers and nanoscale chemical reaction dynamics. Research consistently integrates experimental approaches with computational modeling across photonics and surface science domains.
As Principal Investigator, she leads multiple grants including 'Shining light on single molecule dynamics' (EPSRC) and 'Steering electron dynamics through atomic-scale engineering' (Royal Society). She directs outreach programs at local schools and mentors doctoral candidates.
