Dr. Kristin Stendahl is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, Yale University. She holds joint appointments in Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. Board-certified in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology and Cytopathology, with eligibility in Transfusion Medicine. Completed extensive training including MD (University of Minnesota), residency at Yale, and dual fellowships in Cytopathology and Blood Banking.

Her research spans transfusion medicine complications, cytopathology of neoplasms, and laboratory informatics. Focus areas include apheresis therapies, transfusion reactions, cytomorphologic characterization of hepatobiliary/breast malignancies, and innovative laboratory consultation systems. Recent work explores Rh alloimmunization, hyperhemolysis in pregnancy, and diagnostic biomarkers.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on clinical pathology applications, with emphasis on transfusion safety, cytopathology diagnostics, and laboratory system innovations. Work frequently addresses complex interdisciplinary clinical scenarios requiring integrated pathology solutions.
Currently mentors MD/MS resident Ujunwa Korie (2024-2025). Active contributor to academic literature with original research and book chapters in transfusion medicine.
