Kristin Kopf is a professor of German linguistics at Leipzig University (2024/25) and holds academic positions at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the IDS Mannheim. She specializes in corpus linguistics, language change, and historical German linguistics. Her research focuses on morphosyntax, word formation, and diachronic studies of German, particularly in Early New High German and Alemannic dialects.
She has published extensively on topics like genitive alternation, generic masculine usage, and compound formations. Her work combines empirical corpus-based methods with theoretical linguistic frameworks. She has led projects such as 'Grammatical Change in Contemporary German' and contributed to the IDS Korpusgrammatik initiative.
Kopf has taught courses on German grammar, historical linguistics, and corpus methodology at multiple institutions, including TU Dortmund and University of Münster. She is currently substituting a full professorship in Leipzig while maintaining research roles at Mainz and IDS Mannheim.
