Kristin Hay is a Lecturer in Economic and Social History at the University of Glasgow. Her research focuses on the intersections of gender, medicine, and oral history, particularly regarding reproductive health and rights activism in Scotland. She holds a PhD from the University of Glasgow titled 'An oral history of birth control practices in Scotland, c. 1965-1980.'
Her work examines topics such as contraceptive access, medical professional attitudes, and the historical construction of adulthood through a gendered lens. She has contributed to exhibitions like the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow’s 'Admitting Women' and appeared on BBC Radio Scotland’s 'Time Travels.'

Hay teaches courses on British social history, addiction, and oral history methodologies. She currently holds grants from the Learning and Teaching Development Fund and the Wellcome Trust. Her research groups include Economic & Social History at Glasgow, and she collaborates with organizations such as Waverley Care on public health projects. Hay is open to supervising PhD students in histories of medicine, gender, and oral history.
