Dr Alison Chand is a Lecturer at the Centre for History, University of the Highlands and Islands, and continues teaching at the Scottish Oral History Centre, University of Strathclyde. Her work bridges oral history, modern British history, gender studies, and social history.

Her research focuses on gendered identities during World War II, particularly men in reserved occupations, and the experiences of parents with young children during the COVID-19 pandemic. She combines oral history methodologies with cultural and social analysis to explore these themes.
Recent publications highlight her expertise in oral history, including peer-reviewed articles and a monograph on wartime masculinities. Her 2022 work on the pandemic's impact on parenthood and 2016 book on Clydeside workers are central to her scholarly output.
