معرفی
Kristin Andreassen Fenton is a Professor at the Department of Medical Biology, UiT The Arctic University of Norway. She holds dual roles as Deputy Head of Education, overseeing teaching and lecturers, and as a leading immunology researcher. Her work focuses on molecular mechanisms of autoimmune diseases, particularly systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and lupus nephritis (LN), including the role of nucleosomes, autoantibodies, and tertiary lymphoid structures (TLS). She teaches immunology to biomedical and medical students, supervising bachelor theses in biomedicine.
- Education & Roles: Molecular biologist with a biochemistry background and immunology PhD. Deputy Head of Education since [year not specified].
- Research Themes: TLS formation in LN, chromatin-autoantibody interactions, non-invasive imaging methods for early SLE diagnosis. Collaborations involve histopathology imaging innovations and cross-species SLE modeling.
- Publications: Over 30 peer-reviewed articles from 2002–2025, emphasizing TLS biology, SLE mechanisms, and diagnostic biomarkers.
- Projects: Member of the RNA and Molecular Pathology Research Group (RAMP) and leader of the 'Lupus Nephritis – Disease Mechanisms, Detection and Therapy' project. Active in clinical translation of imaging tools like PET/MRI.
Her lab explores kidney-resident cell interactions, mesenchymal stem cell roles, and TLS networks using advanced microscopy and machine learning. Current goals include developing patient-specific LN treatments and TLS imaging biomarkers.
