Kristi Kiefer serves as an Associate Professor in the Health and Human Performance department and holds dual administrative roles as Associate Athletic Director and Senior Woman Administrator at Fairmont State University, where she has been since 2004. She remains an active member of the NCAA Division II Management Council despite retiring from coaching in 2020.
A pioneer in Acrobatics & Tumbling, Kiefer co-founded the sport's collegiate program in 2010 and spearheaded its recognition as an NCAA emerging sport by January 2020. Her professional focus integrates coaching education, women's athletics development, and student-athlete mentorship within health sciences frameworks, driving national adoption of the sport across all NCAA divisions by mid-2020.
Her exceptional leadership earned multiple coaching honors:
- NCATA Coach of the Year (2012)
- NCATA Coach of the Year (2019)
- MEC Coach of the Year (2019)
Kiefer mentored 10 former student-athletes into coaching careers (four as head coaches) while securing eight national tournament appearances and three event championships. She continues advising the Student Athlete Advisory Committee for community outreach initiatives including Make-A-Wish Foundation fundraising.
She maintains active leadership in the Acrobatics & Tumbling program and serves on NCAA committees to expand the sport to the required 40+ institutions for full championship status.
